Aaron Henry Gray, son of Alfred C. Gray and Lena Vanroekel Gray, was born on February 28th, 1935, in Mahaska County, Iowa. He graduated from Tracy High School in 1953, and was married to Donna Joy Mattix by October 19th, 1957. Shortly after their wedding they moved to Loveland, Colorado.
As a young boy, Aaron helped work on the family farm and played on the high school basketball team. He was a "jack of all trades" and worked in many areas of the construction trades from building cabinets all the way to building some of the largest sky scrapers in Denver. At one time, he was co-owner of K&A Construction whose claim to fame was doing the entire interior finished of the Broadmoor West Hotel in Colorado Springs.
Aaron's greatest love was telling others about his dearest friend Jesus Christ. He served as pastor in many places, Durango and Denver, Colorado and at a small church in Jackson, Michigan. He was a song leader for many years at Cornerstone Free Methodist Church and was friend to all who knew him. No one could resist the warmth of his smile.
Over the past few years, Aaron and Donna worshipped together at God's New Beginnings on Saturday evenings and at Family Worship Center on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. He found the greatest joy in leading worship at the local Alzheimer's long term care facility in Littleton. He and Donna worked faithfully every Tuesday at a food bank in Englewood, Colorado. They came home every day exhausted, but loving how they could help in whatever ways they could.
At the age of 81, Aaron went forward to his forever home on Monday, October 10, 2016; Donna by his side as she always was.
His family includes his wife, Donna Gray, son, Paul Gray and Paul's wife, Marti. Aaron's brother, Marion Gray and Marion's wife, Ellen, are from Oskaloosa, Iowa. Aaron's three grandchildren: Cari Tritz, Matthew Gray, and Kayla Leadem (and husband Jeremy) all live in Colorado. Aaron also has three great grandsons that he loved dearly: Caleb, Charlie and Miles.
Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, his sister (Mary Gray, and his brother (Ervin Gray).
