Obituary

An amazing self-taught photographer, Guy Geoly
loved capturing and creating images that evoked
thought and beauty. "Guy was always looking at
things from a unique perspective," said Charlotte,
his wife of 58 years. His unique perspective
was shaped from a life lived that was anything
short of ordinary.

An amazing self-taught photographer, Guy Geoly
loved capturing and creating images that evoked
thought and beauty. "Guy was always looking at
things from a unique perspective," said Charlotte,
his wife of 58 years. His unique perspective
was shaped from a life lived that was anything
short of ordinary.

Before meeting the love of his life Charlotte,
Guy was born in Brooklyn and raised in
Florida and Long Island. As a young person,
Guy spent his time sailing and as a competitive
equestrian. He loved anything with four wheels
and competed in midget-class car racing.

Guy had a 40-year career in theatrical costuming
and costume design, using his creative talents to
provide the wardrobe and costumes for
on- and off-broadway theater, movies and television
as well as Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey
Circus. He was a leading expert in historical costuming.
He also directed off-broadway musical theater.

When not working long hours, Guy loved to contribute
to the community through activities and hobbies.
He was an ordained deacon in the Baptist church,
a little league baseball coach and league president,
a baseball umpire and ran the local
boy scout troop. With the little time he had to spare
he kept marine-reef aquariums
and started his life-long love of photography.
He was also an avid coffee drinker and
enjoyed fine wine and scotch.

Guy loved imparting his wisdom and experience
to his family and friends. "My grandpa loved telling a
story or teaching a lesson," said Alison, one of Guy's
five grandchildren, "most of them had an unusual twist."
Guy loved to recite limericks he learned as a child or
spin a story based on his unique life experiences.
He was a devoted husband, a loving father and
grandfather and a fierce friend.

He is survived by his beloved wife Charlotte Geoly
and three children Paul Geoly, Pete Geoly and
Jean Armstrong (Geoly). He is also survived by
his grandchildren, Katie Armstrong, Alison Armstrong,
Mia Geoly, Nik Geoly and Maria Geoly.

Guy departed this world on his own terms, with a
belly full of fresh trout and a glass of wine after lunch
with Charlotte and some dear friends. Guy will be
missed but his influences will live on through the
people he shared his life with.
